Beauty hunting The related knowledge of the arrow tail, structure classification, style classification, arrow tail model, tightness, etc
Arrow tail is arranged at the end of the arrow shaft and is machined with a chord groove which can buckle the bow string with proper force to ensure that the arrow tail does not fall off from the bow string in the bow opening process and to maintain the push of the bow string to the arrow shaft after being scattered; Until the arrow ends smoothly. Most of the arrow tails are made of plastic and can be replaced if damaged, while some bamboo and wood arrows are directly machined with buckled grooves at the end of the shaft, and there is also the arrow tail made of aluminium alloy, which is usually a special rapid-fire arrow tail. Both the front arrow and the rear arrow may be damaged, and the price is much higher than that of the common plastic arrow and is generally not recommended to use. In fact, the aluminum arrow is mostly used on a high-speed crossbow. The plastic arrow is used in the case of high-speed bowstring rebound. May be cracked and accidentally left empty.

The arrow tails commonly used by the Beauty Hunt are divided into the following categories according to their installation structure and performance.
一.Classification by Arrow Tail Installation Structure
1.jacket arrow tail
The outer-coated (out-Nock) is matched with the outer diameter of the arrow shaft, can be directly sleeved at the end of the arrow shaft, is simple to install, light in weight, and has little influence on the dynamic deflection of the arrow shaft (changing the weight of the arrow shaft will affect the dynamic deflection). However, it is easy to loose when installing, and has no protection against the tail of the arrow. Coat tails are commonly found on lower-priced finished arrows, giving a sense of unprofessional cheapness, but in fact jacket arrow tails are used in high-level competitive competitions, such as Bette's X10 coat tails.

2、interpolated arrow tail
Insert-Nock is matched with the inside diameter of the arrow shaft and can be directly inserted into the end of the hollow structure of the arrow shaft. Its advantages and disadvantages are basically the same as that of the outer-coated arrow tail. Both are simple to install, light in weight and have no protection to the chase arrow tail. However, after the insertion of the arrow tail is installed, the smoothness with the shape of the arrow shaft is better, and the obvious shape steps of the outer cover type are basically avoided, and the explosion-proof ring can be added to protect the arrows. Explosion-proof ring is generally divided into two types, one kind of outsourcing type, which is set outside the shaft, which can reduce the probability of archery damage to the shaft to a certain extent. (Explosion-proof ring can also be installed on the arrow to prevent the hard object from being hit by the arrow.) However, the outsourced anti-explosion ring has limited ability to prevent damage. In some cases, the end of the shaft will still be cracked by arrows when pursuing arrows. The other is the inter-inserted arrow tail seat, which has better protection capability, but will change the adaptable inner diameter of the arrow tail. When the inter-inserted arrow tail seat is adopted, the arrow rod with the 6.2 mm inner diameter may need to be equipped with the arrow tail with the 4.2 mm inner diameter. The arrowhead also increases the weight of the arrowhead, making the dynamic deflection of the arrow hard.

3、internal sleeve arrow tail
The in-inserting outer sleeve type arrow tail (InOut-Nock) can be directly inserted into the arrow shaft, but a circle of slightly larger outer sleeve is arranged outside the arrow shaft tail to cover the arrow shaft, so the arrow tail is contacted inside and outside the tube wall of the arrow shaft and is not easy to loosen. and has higher coaxiality matched with the arrow shaft, which is beneficial to shooting accuracy theoretically.
The following image shows the inline jacket arrow tail
4、anti-strike tail nail type arrow tail
The Pin Nock has an aluminum nail inserted at the end of the shaft. Different diameters of the nail can be adapted to different internal diameters of the shaft. The end of the nail has a small chamfered circular shaft (about 3.2 mm in diameter). Arrow tail can be directly inserted in the small round shaft, anti-screw nail and arrow shaft when the fit can also be reinforced with hot melt adhesive to prevent loose.
The anti-stopping nail can effectively solve the problem that the front arrow shaft is damaged when the archery is pursued, and the aluminium alloy tail nail can deflect the archery after the archery is broken, thereby protecting the archery from being damaged. Damaged plastic arrow tails can be replaced directly, and tail studs, if not severely damaged, can be used after a simple filing.
However, the spike will significantly increase the weight of the arrow's tail, causing the arrow's center of gravity to move back and making the arrow's dynamic deflection hard. The following figure shows the anti-knock studs for each shaft I. D., from left to right, for 6.2 mm, 5 mm, 4.2 mm

5、anti-strike tail nail outer cover arrow tail( Pin Out-Nock) can be matched with the anti-streaking tail and wrap a section of arrow shaft, which has higher coaxiality with the arrow shaft, which is beneficial to shooting in theory.
The following figure shows the arrow tail of anti-stack nail outsourcing.
6、taper jacket anti-strike type arrow tail
The tail part of the arrow shaft is tapered and the outer sleeve is matched with the inner tapered arrow tail. The cone of the shaft also deflects the rear-end arrow, thus protecting the shaft. A typical cone-shaped jacket with an Easton arrow tail, though it is more expensive than a regular arrow tail.

二.Classification by Arrow Tail Style
1、symmetrical arrow tail
As the name implies, the shape of the arrow tail is symmetrical in the upper and lower directions, left and right directions. In history, the arrow tails are almost always developed from the symmetrical arrow tail, so the symmetrical arrow tail can be used in all bows and mainstream hooking methods. For example, the Mediterranean Sea, the Three Fingers Under, and the Mongolian-style hooking method. However, with the development of archery theory and practice, some problems of symmetrical arrow tails have also gained a deeper understanding, such as the bowstring tilting in the groove of the string when the hand is spread. may make the arrow point squeeze the arrow tail, therefore, on the basis of the symmetrical arrow tail developed a more suitable for hand scattering asymmetric arrow tail. At present, the symmetrical arrow tail is more suitable for compound bow with D-ring at the archery point, and the bowstring in the arrow tail chord groove is basically vertical to the arrow shaft, and the bowstring can better fit the chord groove.
The following figure shows the use of symmetrical arrow tails on composite bows.
2.Asymmetric arrow tail
Asymmetric arrow tail, that is, the arrow tail is symmetrical left and right, but the shape of the up and down direction is not symmetrical. the front and rear sides of the upper and lower sides of the asymmetric arrow tail are respectively provided with a small slope, the hand-spraying is adopted, especially when the three-finger or finger-width hooking method is adopted, the string nests of the upper and lower arrow tails are pressed into the arrow tail along with the inclination of the bow string, The upper chord nest accommodates a small slope at the front part of the upper end of the arrow tail, and the lower chord nest accommodates a small slope at the rear part of the lower end of the arrow tail. If symmetrical arrow tails are used at this time, the upper and lower chord nest squeezes the overturned arrow tail and may slightly bend the arrow shaft. This affects the alignment, and there is also a small slanted chord slot in the upper half of the asymmetrical tail, allowing the tail to adapt to the slant of the bowstring in the groove. In addition, when the Mediterranean hook method is used for scattering, the forefinger and the ring finger generally drop the string earlier, and the middle finger also tilts the bowstring in the string groove before the string drop, thus causing the string nest to press the tail of the arrow. If the use of single arrow point, the nest may be the arrow tail downwards squeeze, there is the possibility of affecting the shooting. When installing the asymmetric arrow tail, the upper and lower directions of the arrow tail should be distinguished, the small slope of the front end of the arrow tail for accommodating the upper chord nest is upward, and the small slope of the rear end of the arrow tail for accommodating the lower chord nest is downward, if the direction is reversed, The tail of the arrow can not hold the function of the string nest, and the string nest squeezes the tail.

2.rapid-fire arrow tail
The chord groove of the rapid-fire type arrow tail has an obvious inverted octa-shaped trumpet-shaped opening, which is mainly convenient for fast buckling the chord, and some designs can make the arrow tail into a cross chord groove to be used with a 90-degree four-pin arrow, so that the buckling direction can not be distinguished, It can recognize strings more quickly, but the tail of this type of arrow is generally wider, especially the cross-sloted arrow tail, which may be thicker than the shaft, so this type of arrow tail is generally only used in rapid fire and riding shooting, such as those requiring fast stringing. and try not to distinguish the direction of main and auxiliary feathers on the shooting method.

2.luminous arrow tail
The luminous arrow tail is basically made of transparent plastic, has a battery, an LED luminous element, a switch and other elements inside the arrow tail, is often used outdoors and in some environments with insufficient light, can clearly display the flight path and arrow landing position of the arrow, and has the function of direction indication. can effectively reduce the arrow loss probability of outdoor archery, and is convenient to track the prey that escapes with the arrow in bow hunting. The luminous arrow tail is usually an interpolation structure, the arrow tail internal insertion rod is generally a battery, some luminous arrow tails are provided with trigger switches at the bottom of the chord groove, and the arrow tails can be illuminated after the string is buckled. Usually, the tails of the glowing arrows can be lit continuously for several hours to dozens of hours (depending on the battery capacity). This kind of arrow tail is generally heavier than the common plastic arrow tail, which has obvious effect on the dynamic deflection of the arrow. Most of its batteries are used for one-time use. After the electricity is used up, it is generally necessary to replace the arrow tail to continue to shine. Second, the switch component of the light-emitting arrow tail may be damaged or disabled during use, or the light-emitting component cannot be turned off until the battery is exhausted. The light-emitting arrow tail is usually several times more expensive than the ordinary arrow tail. Therefore, it is not recommended to use it except for special needs.

III. Model of Arrow Tail
The arrow tail model mainly distinguishes the size of the chord groove diameter and the type of the arrow tail, in order to adapt to the different thickness of the bow string or hook string spread. The size of the arrow tail is generally divided into S (small, 2.6 mm in diameter) and L (large, 3 mm in diameter). Generally, bowstrings with 16 strands or less are considered fine strings. S arrow tails are recommended. Bowstrings with 16 strands or more are considered coarse strings. L arrow tails are recommended. Of course, besides the number of strands, the thickness of a single strand also has a direct impact.
The following figure shows the tails of S and L.
Different brands of arrow tails also have different models. For example, the asymmetric Werner Beiter arrow tail is commonly used in China. The small size is PIN1 and the large size is PIN2. The symmetrical arrow tail has the Bet's H-type and Easton's G-type, which can be distinguished when used.
4. Arrow tail buckle string tightness, chord groove depth, arrow tail weight, installation coaxiality and related effects
1、 Judgment and Influence of Tightness of Arrow's Tail Snap String
Arrow tails usually require a proper clasping force and tightness. The over-loose clasp force easily makes the arrow tail fall in the process of opening the bow, causing accidental emptying; The loose contact of the arrow tail will also affect the consistency of the clasp position of the arrow tail, which will affect the shooting accuracy. The over tightening force will make the arrow tail not easy to drop, thus changing the dynamic deflection of the arrow and affecting the shooting accuracy. (The effect of a tight arrow tail on a low-pound bow is more pronounced.)
The following methods can be used to determine whether the tightness between the arrow tail and the bowstring is appropriate: The arrow tail is normally buckled at the bowstring point, the bow is placed horizontally, and the arrow points to the ground. Tap the bowstring near the end of the arrow with your finger, and the arrow falls, the string tightness of the arrow end buckles is moderate; If it is difficult to fall, the arrow tail buckles the string is tight; If the bowstring is not struck, the tail of the arrow falls off on its own, and the clasp is loose.
Usually, the arrow end of a larger size can be replaced when the clasping is too tight. If the arrow end is already large, a thinner rope can be replaced and rewinded, or a bowstring with fewer strands can be selected. Of course, there are shooters will use high mesh sandpaper will be inside the chord groove symmetrically polished, in order to expand the chord groove diameter. If the clasp is loose, replace the tail of the arrow with a smaller size, or wind a lap of cord or thread around the clasp to increase the diameter of the string, or choose a string with a larger number of strands.
After normal archery, place the bow horizontally. The arrow points to the ground. Tap the bow string to determine the tightness of the arrow tail.
2.Effect of chord groove depth
The depth of the chord groove varies with the arrow tail. The deeper the chord groove, the longer the chord-out process, and the more likely to be affected by the scattering of the bowstring in theory. Therefore, the shallow chord groove has some fault tolerance advantages. Because the tail of the arrow is very short, and the lateral swing speed of the bow string is generally not as fast as the arrow speed (refer to the related slow-motion lens), the effect is not obvious, almost negligible. The following figure shows different chord groove depths for different arrow tails
3.Effect of Arrow Tail Weight on Arrow
The weight of the arrow tail varies with the structure. Generally, the arrow tail with the metal anti-stop pin or tailstock is heavier. (A single nail may weigh more than the entire plastic insert) which causes the arrow's center of gravity position to move backwards and the dynamic deflection to harden; If replaced with a lighter, interpolated or outer, all-plastic arrow tail, the arrow's center of gravity position will move forward, the dynamic deflection will soften, which will affect the arrow's flight attitude.
4.Judgment and influence of coaxiality of arrow tail.
After the arrow tail is installed, it should be coaxial with the shaft under normal conditions, that is, the axis of the arrow tail and the shaft is basically coincident. Generally, the mounting and matching distance between the insertion type arrow tail or the outer sleeve type arrow tail and the arrow shaft is long, and the phenomenon that the arrow tail and the arrow shaft are different axes is difficult to occur generally, but the mounting and matching distance between the anti-screw nail and the conical arrow tail is short, There may be a problem that the arrow tail and the shaft have different axes, especially when the tail nail is damaged and repaired, the installation small axes of the arrow tail may be deformed and bent, which may cause the chord groove direction to deviate from the shaft axis of the shaft and destroy the consistency of the installation state of the arrow tail.
Generally, the shaft can be rotated along the axis by tossing and turning the shaft or blowing the arrow feathers. Observe whether the arrow tail swings when rotating. If the arrow tail swings, it is recommended to check or reinstall the arrow tail. Rotate the shaft and find the arrow tail swings, it means that the arrow tail is installed on a different axis than the shaft.
